SfAA Resolution on Arizona SB1070

The Board of Directors of the Society has approved the following resolution with regard to SB 1070 which was passed into law by the State of Arizona:

"The Society for Applied Anthropology, through a vote of the Board of Directors, resolves not to hold the SfAA annual meetings or other conferences in Arizona until SB1070 of the State of Arizona is rescinded or until the Board of the Society reviews this issue in the future. As applied anthropologists and social scientists in an international organization, we oppose a law which will make it difficult for our colleagues to travel to the state and be part of professional conferences without fear of harassment. The law adversely affects the very goals of social justice and human worth upon which the society was created."
